Visitation Parish and the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph are committed to providing a safe environment for children. Every adult (age 18+) who works on our campus or volunteers with our students is required to complete a background check as well as the workshop, Protecting God's Children for Adults. This is mandated for all adults who are in contact with children, either at school events and activities or through any school-sponsored event or activity.
Visit the diocesan website, Office of Children and Youth Protection, for more information about our commitment to protect children and young people from sexual abuse.

Reporting Suspected Abuse
The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is committed to combating sexual abuse in the Church. If you are a victim of sexual abuse, or if you observe or suspect sexual abuse:
1. Call the Missouri Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-392-3738 (if the victim is currently under the age of 18), and
2. Contact your local law enforcement agency or call 911, and
3. After reporting to civil and law enforcement authorities, report suspected sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult to the Diocesan Ombudsman, Joe Crayon, at 812-2500 or crayon@ombudsmankcsj.org. The ombudsman receives and investigates all reports of inappropriate behavior or sexual misconduct by clergy, employees or volunteers in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.
Visitation and the Diocese have a sincere commitment to providing care and healing resources to victims of sexual abuse and their families. Please contact Whitney True-Francis, Victim Assistance Coordinator, at 392-0011 or true.francis@diocesekcsj.org for more information.
